I took over development of a bespoke application (Node.js) for customer loyalty and advocacy. I have: added support for integration with multiple e-commerce sites (Shopify) across various countries; completed numerous infrastructure (AWS) improvements; and implemented new features based on business requirements. Results include: vastly improved insight into applications problems; significant reduction in bugs; and increased customer engagement and loyalty.

This resulted in a modern, mobile-friendly site, that is easier to manage, more secure, and now includes custom statistics to track customer engagement.

This project revolutionised how the organisation operates, and helped free up staff time for other tasks. I was part of a volunteer team that helped build a web-based order tracking system, which included individual user logins, admin login for managing orders/charities/users, submission of orders via email, and export of data for reporting. I provide ongoing development and support for the order system.

I worked on: a web-based project management tool for internal use; a code library for interfacing with an accounting system (Xero); a system for automated billing and renewal of domain names; integration with a community water supply system to provide graphing of current and historical data; modification and extension of existing legacy web applications; and customisation, configuration, and maintenance of various software installations (CiviCRM, Drupal, Magento, and SilverStripe).

I performed a security audit on a bespoke content management system, and made changes to secure the site again prevalent web vulnerabilities. I then refactored and updated the legacy layout into a modern design, which resulted in an improved experience for mobile users.

My responsibilities included: database design and optimisation; application level architecture and implementation; user interface development; and providing detailed work estimates based on specification documents. The site operated in 30 cities across the USA, had 900K registered users and up to 15M page views per month, and was acquired by AOL.
